Donald J. (“DJ”) Carswell, Jr. is an Associate Attorney at Hamelburg Law where his practice focuses on business and real estate litigation as well as personal injury and wrongful death matters. In addition to litigation, DJ has gained extensive experience advising community associations, businesses, and individuals in commercial disputes, judgment collection, and other business and personal legal matters. Throughout his career, DJ has successfully represented numerous individuals and companies in a wide range of legal matters and disputes throughout Maryland and Washington, DC.
DJ’s strategic approach to litigation, combined with his strong analytical skills, has earned him a reputation as a skilled litigator in the legal community who is not afraid to take cases to trial. He is known for his meticulous attention to detail, strategic thinking, and strong advocacy skills. His clients appreciate his ability to navigate complex legal issues and his ability to communicate legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
DJ has handled numerous complex cases, including business contract disputes, fiduciary and probate litigation, and real estate litigation. He also has extensive experience securing compensation for those involved in personal injury and wrongful death matters.
DJ has earned a reputation as a skilled litigation attorney, most recently being recognized as a 2025 Maryland Rising Star by Super Lawyers®. DJ is also involved in the Maryland State Bar Association and Bar Association of Montgomery County, where he was a 2017 Fellow of the Association’s Leadership Development Academy.
A graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, DJ served as the Student Bar Association’s Liaison to the American Bar Association and Maryland State Bar Association. He also served as a Rule 16 Student Attorney representing incarcerated individuals in bail review hearings from the Baltimore County Detention Center.
